CLENT MOTHER'S UNION

Our July meeting began with a short act of worship. Our branch leader, Jenny Edwards then gave out several announcements for members to make a note of for the next two months, as there will be no meeting in August. Our September meeting will be our annual outing, details of which are yet to be finalised.

Jenny then introduced our speaker for the afternoon, Angie Lilley, on the subject of Laughter for Life. Angie is editor of M.U. quarterly news-sheet "Worcester Waves", she works with Mums and Toddlers' groups and also works as a clown at children's parties! Drawing on her own experiences she recognises the importance of laughter for everyone's life and recommended us to keep a "laughter diary" to refer to during those times when laughter does not come easily – something she herself has found very helpful. We were asked to share with our neighbour amusing experiences we had enjoyed over the past 48 hours. As a result, we chuckled our way through to tea and cakes. Jan Woolley thanked Angie for her entertaining talk and presented her with an indoor plant. Members will be given full details of the outing in the August magazine. In the meantime members and their families are wished happy and refreshing holidays.

What else we do _

Part of the 'Outreach' programme of Clent Mothers' Union is our responsibility for the staffing of the Playgroup for those families visiting Blakenhurst Prison, Redditch (on the 4th Wednesday afternoon every month).
Non-MU members are also welcome to join this activity (2 - 4:00pm) or to join the members of the Clent MU Evening Group who work with the men and women in H.M.P. Blakenhurst or H.M.P. Brockhill.
